Great viewpoint of West Vancouver and the busy waterway that leads in to the Harbor and beyond so there is a lot of shipping traffic, which included a tugboat during my visit.💗 The Lions Gate Bridge is right next to the viewpoint too. You get a decent view of the Point Atkinson Lighthouse in the distance and the Prospect Point Lighthouse down below when you walk out onto the bridge which is a short walk. It's a big bridge! Lots of access to trails from here and there are a lot of bike racks. The viewpoint is high up from the seawall so it's a hike to get here if you're exploring the trails. Only the bathrooms were open when I visited, everything else was boarded up. There were no signs so not sure if they were closed permanently or just for the season. Google Maps shows the restaurant is temporarily closed so maybe this is just a seasonal thing? As a side note, I got a parking ticket 15 minutes after I paid for parking but it was super easy to appeal online and was very painless. I was told that the handheld devices used by the parking attendants aren't always able to upload new payments. The office easily confirmed that I had paid so the ticket was dismissed just days later. Keep copies of your parking receipts.
Great place to visit. The fort and lighthouse are well maintained with lots of information. Staff was friendly and cost of entry was very reasonable. Picnic tables and grassy areas are plentiful for but so were the Canadian geese. Visited at the end of March and got there just after 9 when the fort opens to get lighthouse pictures without a lot of people around. There is a lot to see and do here.
